Hi Amrit and Mindy,
Tyler and I spoke to Bogdan this morning regarding the addition of a capacitor to the PMT divider bases for NPS.
It looks like they have found that the frequency band of the low voltage amplifier is too large and is generating noise.
The thought is to chop the frequency band by adding a capacitor (~500 pF) on the output of the divider base (think low-pass filter).
The attached photo shows the output of the divider base with a capacitor already installed.
Approximately 150 dividers have been equipped with capacitors already.
The dividers with the capacitors already installed will be tested before the holiday shutdown.
If the test goes well, they would like to start installing capacitors on the remaining divider PCBs.
There are ~800 capacitors that will need to be installed.
These are already on-hand (Chris Stanislav has them).
This would be time sensitive work.
The French team will be returning to the lab around January 10, 2023 to complete installation/instrumentation.
They can install between 40 and 50 PMTs (including dividers and shielding) per day, so there would need to be at least 50 to 100 completed before January 10.
This would provide a kind of cushion between their install rate and the availability of completed dividers.
I’m not sure what Mindy’s work load looks like at the beginning of next year, but does it seem like this is something DSG can do?
