So, my interpretation is that there is no problem stopping you from proceeding, since you’ve worked around this too-long string problem. Indeed we don’t need vxWorks now.
Thank you.

Hi Bob,
The main problem I had on cdaql3 was that when I tried to compile the EPICS IOC for the NPS low voltage, it kept giving an error that some input for the compiler was too long (in terms of the quantity of characters). From the error messages, it looked like the input was a path to a directory needed to compile the IOC to run on VxWorks.
I'm guessing that at some point, the EPICS base on cdaql3 was also used to compile an IOC for a VME crate (they typically use the OS VxWorks).
Since the IOC will run on cdaql3, whose OS is 64-bit Linux, I was able to have the compiler ignore any errors from trying to compile for VxWorks, resulting in the IOC executable that can be run on cdaql3.
I had other issues on one of DSG's Linux PCs during initial development related to missing Net-SNMP drivers and unclear configuration directions for the EPICS SNMP application. These two problems did not happen on cdaql3 since the Net-SNMP drivers were already installed and I had figured out the configuration steps on DSG's Linux PC.
-Tyler

I think I'm supposed to start doing as much of Brad's work as possible for this NPS
project. If Tyler would kindly explain to me what "issues" he had during initial testing
with setting up the SNMP command module for the IOC, I can look into it.
Thanks
Bob

Hi Everyone,
The DSG has a weekly R&D meeting to discuss the progress of the project.
Here is a link to the minutes from this week's meeting:
