[Dsg-hallc_nps] cabling on NPS

Thanks, it is great to meet you all. I've met a couple of you in person and of course I know
Marc quite well.

On the NPS detector (that big box in room 108 of the EEL building), I guess you've heard about
the noise problems. If not, you can read the log entry below (use JLab username and passwd to
get into the logbook).

One of the things I'd like to try -- just to see if it does any good -- is to complete the Faraday cage
by draping some heavy-duty aluminum foil on the front face. We would not run that way, but
just to see if it helps to seal off electromagnetic interference from the PMTs and maybe the noise
situation gets better.

It probably won't do any good but I think it's worth trying. Just some store-bought aluminum foil,
the thicker kind. Do you have any ? Or mind buying a few rolls, enough to cover that black material
which is on the front. We'd have to be careful not to damage the black material. If someone takes
me up on this, please meet me briefly first.

thanks
Bob

Hi Bob,

I am well and retired from basketball the last day you saw me play, probably for the best.

Anyway,

I introduced you to Aaron Brown the other day, he is the DSG point man for NPS and will have answers to your questions.

I am CC'ing the mailing list so he will get this and can arrange to meet with you.

Regards,
Marc

Hi Marc

I'd like to learn a little more about the cabling on the NPS. Maybe you were not involved,
but maybe you know someone who worked on that. Just some simple questions we can
ask with a short rendezvous in EEL room 108.

I hope you're doing well. I have not played b-ball since the pandemic started (Spring 2020),
so I guess I'm retired from b-ball.

Bob
