Hi Scot,
The point IO is a DIN rail mount system for the items are current dimensions are:
length ~180mm
height ~130mm.
I dont have autocad on any my PC's at the lab and have not been able to get to the server remotely like I can with Altium, so I had a try at 'freecad'. (See attached .pdf for reference) I can send you .stp or DXF if you would like.
I have a standard 19" rack mount DIN rail bracket/holder that would probably work fine. I need to get my hands on it to see how we would mount it to the wall or if we have much more time we can probably just include in the model and spec it all out remotely.
You can see from Tim's attached picture all the signals are originating from either the DP sensors or the flow meters, the ideal location would be a clear space on the wall above or besides the existing installation.
Also please add qty (7) 1734-TB to the Allen Bradley order. These are necessary for the backplane to IO module connections. My pricing is showing $25.45/piece.
Best Regards,
Nick

Gents,
What is the overall physical footprint of the system. Where is the signals wiring originating & where would the desired Point I/O systems mounting location?
Thanks,
Scot Spiegel

Hi Tyler and Nick,
Here is a picture of the panel on the east wall.
Scot can answer the question about the DIN rail.
Also, Scot can order the parts on his credit card. I will forward the previous emails with the quotes attached.
Cheers,

Hi Tyler,
Thank you for the update and the pricing.
All of the sensors for the point IO system are currently on the wall behind the downstream platform. Fortunately Scot had an extra Ethernet cable ran to this location recently, we will be able to use it for the Ethernet link to the downstream platform PLC
I dug around for some pictures but I cant seem to find a good overall photo of the existing installation. We should be able to sink in wall mount anchors for the DIN rail system fairly close, I would estimate ~6ft or less for each cable from sensor to pointIO.
Once the location for the DIN is laid out we will actually be able to re-use the existing sensor cabling we will just cut it from the umbilical and land at the new point IO system.
I will get with Scot at the next meeting and check to see if he has enough DIN rail mounting blocks for the sensor to field disconnects, otherwise we would also need to order some as well.
Best Regards,
Nick

Hello Tim and Nick,
Attached is a quote from EECO for the PointIO system that will be added to the FCAL PLC. The total cost is just over $3k.
The quote is for:
One 1734-AENT PointIO Ethernet/IP module
Seven 1734-IE2V voltage input modules
One 1606-XLS120E 24-Volt power supply
The quote is just for Allen Bradley equipment that would need to be bought from EECO.
For the final system to install in Hall D, we would also need a DIN rail, fusing between the power supply and 1734-AENT module, and cabling to the pressure and flow sensors. These components shouldn't be too expensive and can probably be bought with a credit card like the Watlow chiller controller was. I will gather another cost estimate for these other item, but I have a few questions (below). Some of them may not be able to be answered at the moment due to the work-from-home situation.
* Has the location of the PointIO system in Hall D been established?
* Is there any documentation on the location of the sensors it will read out?
* These first two questions would help determine cable lengths needed.
* Does Hall D have any cabling on-hand or should we plan to buy them?
Best regards,
Tyler
