Hi Xiangdong,

Were you able to talk to the computer center regarding the issues with the Windows 10 PC? We can discuss this matter during the DSG-HDIce meeting tomorrow at 2pm.

Regards,

Amanda

Hi Xiangdong,

I took a look at the Windows 10 computer. There were a few updates that were listed on the Microsoft site that the computer did not have (several updates of version 1803), so I installed those. I tried updating the 1809 update that you had trouble with. I was able to get the upgrade to download, however when I came back to it to check on the progress, the window was no longer there and the update could not be found (it is not listed as a successful update nor a failed update). I have tried twice to download and install the update and both times this has happened. The computer has sufficient memory to perform the update. We believe this is not a problem related to the GPIB or any other NMR related hardware/software, but an issue with a computer setting most likely set by the computer center. When I performed the 1803 updates, I noticed that the setting on the computer preventing it from locking or restarting on its own was preventing the updates from installing, and I had to restart the computer manually to complete the 1803 updates. You should contact the computer center regarding the computer's inability to install the 1809 update.

Regards,

Amanda

Amanda,

The 2 latest (lab pushed) windows 10 updates on the NMR Rack 1 control computer failed with error code of 0x8007042b. The first (02/20/2019) failed and rolled back after 18 hours and the second (02/05/2019) failed after 22 hours. The update history is attached with this message. The Microsoft Q&A suggested that the problem could be caused by the changes of component settings.

Could you take a look at this computer to see if the GPIB or any other NMR related hardware/software is holding or locking up some memory that prevent the windows updating from finishing?

Thanks,

Xiangdong
