[E12-15-001] Elastics for VCS experiment

Yes, I would take dummy for 15 minutes in singles trigger for each.

Cheers,
         Mark

Hi Mark,

would we need a dummy run for each elastic run also?

Best regards,
Hamza

I agree that it is better to start at the high HMS momentum and work down,
so the HMS will not have to be cycled.
The SHMS is easier to cycle since we set all the SHMS magnets by current.

Hi Hamza,

My two cents: It might make sense to keep the elastics together to properly commission the coincidence trigger and study the effects of proton nuclear interactions.

You can keep things efficient by starting with the highest HMS momentum, and then continuously lowering the momentum while going through the settings (going through them in reverse order from how Mark send them).

Anyway, just my two cents :-).

Cheers,
Sylvester

Hi Mark,

Do you want to run all elastics in the beginning of the experiment or run each elastic before running the corresponding kinematics? Since it will take some time to change the momentum settings, would it be more efficient to run each elastic just before we run the corresponding kinematics run?

Regards,
Hamza

Hi Mark,

I am updating the runlist on wiki. How long do you think each run should take? Would one hour be enough for each run ?
Best regards,
Hamza

Yes Mark, agreed!
Hamza, please update the run plan accordingly.

I would suggest that we do elastic for a range of the HMS momentum
that we are using in VCS.

Ebeam q2 HMS mom HMS ang SHMS mom SHMS ang
 4.5500 0.543 0.790 63.8 4.261 9.60
 4.5500 0.687 0.900 60.8 4.184 10.90
 4.5500 0.818 1.00 58.4 4.114 12.00

We should do this first to check out the coincidence timing.
The HMS timing will shift about 30-40 ns compared to the electrons
that are presently in the HMS. I talked to Brad, so he will be available
to adjust the coincidence trigger timing.
We should do one run with singles SHMS trigger and then one run with coincidence
trigger so that we can measure the losses due to proton nuclear interactions at
these momentum.
The rates are very high. So this should not take to long.
Given the high rates , it might be useful to take a run with the sieve in the SHMS.

            Mark
