[Eg1_run] Long Proton Paper

Dear EG1b run group,
Happy New Year!

The long proton paper is nearly ready for ad hoc review.  Please have a look at the new version, and send me any comments and corrections.

Here are the accomplishments since the last posted version:
1) Rob has finished all the figures, and has modified the figure captions accordingly.
2) I have edited the whole paper, fixing spelling, typos, grammar, usage, verbosity, non-uniformity, etc.
3) I have updated the references where possible.
4) I have checked that all acronyms are defined on first use.
5) I have tried to incorporate nearly all of Alexandre’s  and Sebastian’s comments on the last version.  Enough time has elapsed, that we have all forgotten what these were, so I hope the two of you will check to make sure things are done to your satisfaction.
6) I undoubtedly have introduced some errors in the process…please help me find them.
