as an added note following nice discussion on Monday.

The paper I mentioned on SIPM annealing via forward bias etc is

our investigation reported by Roberto. You will see there decay curves 
of the order of "hundreds of seconds". The current magic "30 minutes" as 
discussed is a mix of considerations driven also by the limited beam 
time we have and the limitations of the setup to play this game we had 
this year.
