Katherine,
Here are the 7 Document Rules I'd like to codify into a project-specific procedure. I realize its not the document nomenclature nirvana one might dream of, but its workable within the resources and constraints. I also realize this is kind of a non-answer to your specific question, but I need to know what document you are talking about to answer more directly.
1. Tech Groups (Cryo, PMAG, MEG) determine their own numbering and naming scheme for sows, specs, design reports, drawings, field procedures, D&RPs etc.
2.
Tech Groups do final signatures and store docs in Eng Doc Ctrl, with very few exceptions.
* Documents with outside signatures can be done in Adobe, then added to Eng Doc Ctrl.
3. PM Groups (QA, PE, PM, PROC) follow the EIC numbering and naming scheme for administrative Plans and Procedures.
4. PM Groups do signatures in Adobe and store their documents on the SharePoint site, usually Document Center.
5. L2s and PM Groups maintain Doc Registers that point to documents or to organized locations.
* PM Groups with only a few docs are exempt from using the Doc Register.
6. QA, with assistance from Admins, do Quality Surveillances to ensure L2 and PM Groups are maintaining their Doc Register.
7. Doc Register link is featured prominently on the Document Center page of EIC at JLab SharePoint.
Jacob

Can you please send me the current nomenclature system for EIC documents?
Thanks,
Katherine
