[cid:image013.png at 01DBD554.C496D4F0]The EIC project recently held a productive meeting with the Project Advisory Committee (a “Red Team Review”) to share the project’s proposal for implementing subprojects, including the scope and schedule of each subproject. The members of the PAC provided useful feedback and were generally supportive of the approach to executing the project. This feedback will allow us to refine the plan and the messaging for the August DOE Office of Project Assessment (OPA) Review (scheduled for August 5-7), at which we will ask for concurrence with our project strategy.
This clarifies priorities for our near-term work and provides an (ambitious) timeline for executing it. Between now and the August DOE OPA Review, we will work on refining the subproject plan, addressing feedback from the Red Team Review, and preparing to present our plan at the review.
In the longer term, delivering the first subproject (ESR and HSR) on schedule and on budget is our priority. The Project Advisory Committee (PAC) encouraged us to both set a date for CD-2 on the first subproject (mid 2026), and define and work to a budget. This means that it will be essential for us to consider efficient use of our funds in completing work and maintain a focus on due dates. Funding for the DOE will be lean next year, so making good progress and executing work efficiently will be essential for the overall success of the project.
Reaching CD-2 on the first subproject will be a significant milestone that demonstrates the effort the whole EIC team has put into this project. We have an exciting and busy year ahead of us. I know the JLab team will continue the great work we’ve seen so far!

[cid:image035.png at 01DBD554.C496D4F0]My current role at EIC is the L3 manager for crab cavity cryomodules; I took this position as it gave me the chance to work on a type of cryomodule that is brand new to SRF at JLab, and a design that I could build from the ground up. Joined JLab in 2013 as a Design Engineer under Joe Preble in what used to be called the SRF Engineering and Specialty Fabrication Group. My first project was a collaboration with BNL, building HOM dampers for the 56 MHz RHIC cavity; they were complex, unique, and a lot of fun to build. I moved on to LCLS-II after that, working under Ed Daly. It was the my first opportunity to be part of cryomodule production from start to finish. I was in charge of tuners and cryogenic testing of cryomodules in the CMTF and LERF (the odd hours and sleep deprivation involved in this was good practice for parenthood). I also lead the JLab team which successfully shipped cryomodules to SLAC.
I eventually took over as the Project Engineer and CAM for LCLS-II cryomodule production, seeing it through to the end. After LCLS-II I did a stint at LSLC-II-HE before joining Ed Daly again as Project Engineer and CAM for SNSPPU. I first got involved in crab cavities in about 2016, building HOM dampers for the LHC High-Luminosity upgrade (HL-LHC); I'm currently the project manager for the JLab contribution to HL-LHC. I also run the Vendor Management process for the SRF department's ISO program, and have been a member of JAG for the past decade. I've organized several JLab soccer teams over the years; we were usually awful.
I grew up alternating between Dhaka, Bangladesh and Melbourne, Australia. My Bachelor's Degree was in Aerospace Engineering from Monash University in Melbourne, after which I moved to work as a Finite Element Analyst at the Materials Center Leoben in Austria (I was often reminded by locals that 'there are no kangaroos here'). I got my Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois and Urbana-Champaign, and worked for NASA Langley before moving to JLab. In addition to crab cavities, my two boys and two-month old daughter are what keep me up at night.
