/*The following message is from Bill Merz and Will Oren:*/
The Electrical Engineering System Department (EES) and Engineering
Division management have been holding discussions over the last 2+
months reviewing the EES organization. With the move to the TED, the end
of the 6 GeV era and the imminent start of the 12 GeV shutdown, it was
an opportune time to evaluate and make changes within the organization.
The following changes are being implemented.
Effective May 16, 2012, Curt Hovater will assume the (new) role of EES
Projects Liaison. He will develop the requirements for, and the methods
and tools for initiating, developing, tracking, prioritizing, and
documenting EES projects. (Note -- the basis for the requirements and
process will be the Conduct of Engineering document. The requirements
will be categorized based on scope, cost, resources needed, etc.,
allowing smaller jobs to be handled through existing channels). One of
Curt's first jobs will be to define how the Project Liaison role
functions. He will coordinate and assist in EES projects as needed,
working across organizational boundaries while supporting project
managers inside and outside of EES. Curthas been with JLab for 24+
years, most recently working in the EES RF Group, leading the 12 GeV RF
controls development and commissioning activities. He will also serve as
the Deputy Group Leader for the EES RF Group.
Please include Curt during the initiation stage of all significant
projects being requested of EES.Questions about existing projects can
also be routed to Curt.
Effective May 16, 2012, Andrew Kimber will assume the role of EES DC
Power Group Leader.Andrew has been with JLab 4 years, working in the EES
RF Group, providing engineering development and support for the 12 GeV
RF Power Systems, and 6 GEV RF operations support.Prior to joining JLab,
he held engineering, supervisory, and project development positions for
7 years at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), Oxford, UK**
Please direct work requests for EES DC Power support to Andrew.
We congratulate both Curt and Andrew on their new assignments and ask
for your support in helping them succeed in their new roles.
