Hall B is currently ramping down both the solenoid and torus magnets in support and preperation
of the SHMS test in Hall C.

Subject: [Esr-users] SHMS Dipole tests this morning

Hi

We are planning to test SHMS Dipole this morning.

Initial tests to 1300 Amps to confirm condition and operability.

This is very low impact and at 1300 Amps we are below the threshold for
the fast dump initiated quench back and subsequent high pressure and
high gas flow into warm return.

If these tests go OK we will request a higher current limit up to about
2000 Amps .

This is still below the threshold for quench back.

Success means SHMS can do optics tests using the 3 pass beam.

Testing will begin about 0900 and continue to about 1200.

Cheers

Paul
