[Esr-users] CHL 4K plant tripped

Hi All,
The CHL is back up and refilling cryomodules tonight. Hopefully by morning the system will be back to normal and restrictions on ESR use eased.

A high level summary of the event is:

A contractor drilled through a 480 welding outlet conduit. The breaker for the welding outlet did not trip as it was a mechanical breaker, so an electronic breaker (much faster) two levels up did trip. This took down the 4K refrigerator. A stop work order was issued. All systems shutdown normally including blowing helium relief valves. After a brief investigation, breakers were reset and the plant restarted.

No one was hurt!

Dave

Hi ESR Users,
The CHL tripped and is being recovered. The TL from CHL to ESR was running at the time of the trip but is no longer supporting the Hall loads. Please do not add any cryogenic loads until further notice.
Thanks
Dave
