The following HVAC Outage has been Completed:
Outage: Replace Test Lab Cooling Tower Bypass Valve Assembly Actuator
Proposed By: Carroll W. Jones
Start Time: 06/29/2016 08:00
End Time: 06/29/2016 15:00
Description/Impacts:
The new actuator has been installed and is functional. There is an interference problem between the actuator linkage and actuator housing resulting from the actuator having to be rotated to avoid modification of a major pipe support. There is a proposed plan to modify the linkage which should be able to be implemented without impacting cooling tower operations.

Please note actual cooling tower pump downtime should occur near mid morning and equipment impacts should last for approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remove existing Test Lab Cooling Tower electronic bypass actuator and install the replacement pneumatic actuator. The bypass valve assembly linkage must also be replaced due to the weight of the replacement pneumatic actuator which will require a brief shutdown Test Lab Cooling Tower circulation pumps to prevent the valves from closing violently. Linkage arm attached to butterfly valve stem in piping to upper tower basins shall be manually secured in open position to enable existing actuator and remaining linkage assembly to be removed and the new linkage assembly installed minus the linkage arm on the butterfly valve in piping to upper tower basins. Once ready to replace the remaining valve linkage arm, Central Chiller System CUP Building chillers and Test Lab Cooling Tower pumps will be switched off briefly (approximately 20 to 30 minutes or less if possible) while the existing linkage arm is removed and the replacement arm installed. Central Chiller System circulatio
n pumps will remain operational to transfer heat into the chilled water system and slow space temperature rise in the F-Wing Data Center, cleanrooms, and other areas and equipment cooled. Test Lab Cooling Tower pumps and CUP chillers will be restarted as soon as the linkage assembly is intact and secured in the full open to tower upper basins position. Other systems cooled by the Test Lab Cooling Tower System will be impacted such as the TLA Acid Chiller, TLA Process Cooling Water System, Test Lab LCW System, TED LCW System, and Accelerator Chilled Water Loop.
