The following HVAC Outage has been Completed:

Outage: Testing and Balancing of ARC Building AHU-1, AHU-5, Chiller, and Boiler System
Proposed By: Carroll W. Jones
Start Time: 10/13/2016 08:00
End Time: 10/14/2016 19:30

Description/Impacts:
All TAB activities except Lab AHU-1 balancing is complete. Lab AHU-1 maximum airflow was not achieved. The subcontractor is working to determine the cause and corrective action. Once the problem is corrected, Lab AHU-1 maximum airflow TAB activity must be repeated to verify design maximum airflow is achieved. This TAB activity will require all ARC labs to be switched to occupied mode.

For additional information or clarification, please contact Carroll Jones at 757-876-1778.

Testing and balancing of the chillers and heat reclaim system were completed today. Boiler system TAB activities will occur Friday morning beginning about 6:30 AM and should be completed before 8 AM. Lab AHU-1 air side TAB activities will occur Friday during the day. All labs will be switched to occupied mode during AHU-1 measurements.

For additional information or clarification, please contact Carroll Jones at 757-876-1778.

Testing and balancing (TAB) activities have been delayed until Thursday 10-13-16. Boiler System TAB activities which require all ARC Building heating hot water valves to be commanded full open will begin after 5 PM Thursday evening.

For additional information or clarification, please contact Carroll Jones at 757-876-1778.

Testing and balancing (TAB) activities were be conducted last Friday 10-7-16, but only AHU-5 balancing activities were completed which only impacted non-lab areas located within the three story lab area. The remaining TAB activities listed below will resume Wednesday morning 10-12-16.

AHU-1 balancing activities will require all labs to be switched to occupied (of standard) mode of operation which is maximum air flow. Impact to lab area operations should be minimal.

Balancing activities of the new cooling system chillers require AHU-1 and AHU-5 to be forced into full cooling during measurements. Lab area discharge air from AHU-1 will be colder than normal during measurements, but the lab reheat system should compensate for the cooler main supply air.

The laboratory chiller system used for equipment cooling will not be impacted. The laboratory chiller is not part of the work scope.

Boiler system balancing requires that all heating valves throughout the ARC Buildings (labs, conferences rooms, offices, etc.) be commanded fully open during measurements. The impact will be areas will become warm during testing. Boiler System TAB activities will begin at 5 PM due to minimize the potential impact on occupants and activities in various areas.

For additional information or clarification, please contact Carroll Jones at 757-876-1778.
