Dear All,

I had quite a long and very constructive call with Xiangdong this morning.  In summary, he said he views his role, and indeed that of CNF, as a facilitator for a successful proposal, and didn’t want to derail what we are doing, though would like to send an invitation out for Wednesday for a general discussion, as we discussed, and I said I would forward that to this mailing list. I aimed to emphasize that we were not being exclusionary, in the sense of “ignoring” potential collaborators, including of course Xiangdong.  I should add that I didn’t email him first as per my draft yesterday, since he had already asked if we could chat yesterday afternoon.
