Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting August 2, 2011
1)	Bob Michaels
a)	The beam schedule is nearly ready.
b)	Re the refrigerator in the counting house:
i)	 It doesn't work.
ii)	It will be cleaned out and disposed of on 
Friday (Ed will take care of it)
iii)	We might be able to get a new one.
2)	Robin Wines
a)	Measured the Møller quad in the Hall, will start 
drawings using the new software
b)	Al is working on the 3rd arm. Needs to know the 
final location.
c)	Have a good solution for the camera
d)	Questions shielding needs for the 3rd arm
e)	Al needs information on the vertical field coils 
for A1n
f)	Dump top plate went to the shop
g)	Whit and Susan are working on the 3rd arm
h)	Robin has septum field map
i)	Asked Jixie about final shielding strategy for 
the 3rd arm. He says he's just added the detector 
to his GEANT4 program and needs to analyze the 
results (2-3 days needed)
3)	Installation: (Ed Folts)
a)	Says that the 3rd arm location is not good for 
shielding. Interferes with planned dump 
operations
b)	Left Q1 repairs are done
c)	Everything is ready for cool down. However, 
getting mixed signals from cryo. Cool down could 
occur sometime between 8/8 and 9/1.
d)	Welding on stairs is going well. It's essentially 
done.
e)	Septum is on the pivot along with the 1st level of 
the upper platform.
i)	Septum preliminary alignment will be done in 
the next few days
f)	Routing water lines etc.
g)	Platform parts are due in next week
h)	Target group is a week behind schedule. Has 
offered them help.
i)	In general we're pretty much on schedule
4)	Jack Segal
a)	Jessie and Andrew got the detector stack out. 
It's back in place now
i)	Gas Cerenkov is standing vertical
ii)	Starting to check mirrors
b)	Accelerator will be replacing a switch in the 
Hall tomorrow. Controls will be down for 4-8 
hours
c)	Lots of controls reconfiguring going on
5)	Ole Hansen 
a)	Attended the PANIC conference last week
i)	As of last Friday there's still no Higgs at the 
LHC
ii)	JLab was well represented
iii)	Interesting workshop on 2 photon processes 
and radiative corrections followed the 
conference
b)	Electronic logbook:
i)	We can now read it again
ii)	We need to make it writeable again
iii)	IN general people would like to have 
public_html back.
6)	Sirish Nanda
a)	30 Watt fiber amplifier is back
b)	Measuring transfer function for laser 
polarization in the Hall. Will need 3-4 more days
c)	Expect to button things up next week
d)	No real news on the electron detector. It seems 
unlikely we'll get a thick plane electron 
detector tested at Clermont-Ferrand by September
7)	Jixie Zhang
a)	Repeats remarks about GEAT4 simulations and 3rd 
arm
i)	Need to verify  background results with the 
calculation
b)	Working with students on g2p target field maps
8)	Bogdan Wojtsekhowski
a)	Gas Cerenkov is on the floor. Testing mirrors in 
room 126
b)	Prepared S1m for installation
c)	S1f (f for fast): Testing how to build it
d)	Gives some details of planned measurements at 
Mainz to test gem's
e)	APEX paper circulating. Expect to have the final 
version by the end of the week
f)	Gives some details from the two photon radiative 
tail workshop after the PANIC conference.
g)	Met with Adam Sarty. He will contribute to the 
Gep experiment (developing scintillators)
9)	John LeRose
a)	Hypernuclear collaboration has a final Be 
spectrum. Plan to discuss in two weeks, after 
vacation
b)	Will be away on vacation next week and part of 
the following week.
10)	Maxime Defurne gives talk on DVCS experiment 
analysis
