Hall A Meeting
18 August 2010

Attendance:
Bob, Sirish, Bert, Doug, Whit, Ed, Alex, Bodgan, Daniel Kirby, Jixie, Kalyan,
Karl, Albert, Kees, Vince, Javier, Jack

Bogdan reports the APEX paper has been submitted to PRL and is on the
arXiv at: http://arxiv.org/abs/1108.2750. Also notes we will be getting a
significant number of 1877's from the KEK Belle collaboration for the cost of
shipping.

Bert notes that if you have outdoor storage, now is the time to check it (i.e.
it is hurricane season!)

Whit reports that design work on 3rd arm line of sight shielding nearly
complete. Drawings done on beam viewer camera.

Ed has made a trip the vendors for some of the g2p items and is more optimistic
that items will arrive on time. Reports that the target is a couple weeks
behind, but the target group believes that is can make-up the time once their
QWeak work is done.

Ed also notes that nitrogen should be back this week and HRS will start cooling
down. Helium will be back in September.

Sirish discusses the order of new, thicker silicon chips for the Compton
electron detector. No clear if they will be here in time, but we will still
setup the system as best we can regardless.

Douglas mentions that Hall A is working on a new poster. The recent HAPPEX
III, Transversity and Proton & Neutron form factor ratio results will be soon.
Still looking for a new photo. Ideally, the photo will show 3He, HRS and
BigBite in one image.

Alex has received the new DAQ CPU's and will be trying one out in the HRS.
Alex is also working with Bryan Hess w.r.t. the new firewalls between the Hall
and accelerator computer systems.

Jixie has finalized the 3rd arm design via his Monte Carlo code. He also
figured out how to compile the snake code on 64 bit Linux boxes, though thus
far only in 32 bit mode.

Kalyan is focusing on the upcoming PAC defense.

Javier requested a network person to work with Arne. Alex took the task.

Karl notes a concern about the limited amount of desk space on the 2nd floor of
the counting house. Bob notes that that area is due to be refurbished, but
unfortunately not before this run period.
