Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting December 4, 2012
1)	Thia Keppel
a)	News from the senior staff meeting
i)	Physics Division Holiday Party is December 13. Sign up!
ii)	Vacation purchase program is starting
iii)	Expect an e-mail re 401k and any changes you want to 
make.
iv)	Meeting Thursday at 14:00 with Mont for Physics 
Division (our half)
v)	Last Friday there was a presentation re 4-way beam 
splitting. Was well received. Will be presented to the 
Users Board of Directors. If you have any comments or 
concerns make them known.
vi)	Monday is the Board of Directors meeting
vii)	Last week there were two more reportable injuries. Be 
careful out there!
viii)	EIC R&D Meeting later this month will have 2 JLab 
talks
ix)	PAC 40 is scheduled for the week of June 17
x)	Italy will not continue the Super B project. This means 
the Babar magnet may be available.
xi)	Performance appraisal continues onward
xii)	Lehman review last week:
(1)	Accelerator is fine
(2)	Physics Detectors are fine
(3)	Magnet worries in Halls B&C
(4)	April-May re-baseline review
(5)	CD4A held
xiii)	New experiment readiness review process discussed. 
Expect more information soon. (Patrizia will make a 
presentation at the Collaboration Meeting next week)
b)	Hall A Collaboration meeting next week (12/10-11)
i)	Thia plans to present a 12 GeV task list for users. If you 
have any ideas, pass them on to Thia.
c)	Slightly modified support responsibilities for staff list 
will come around soon.
2)	Bert Manzlak
a)	Recent e-mail regarding reading the RWP was premature. Wait 
for the announcement of the new RWP for 2013 before reading 
and signing.
3)	Robin Wines
a)	DVCS:
i)	Shielding support
ii)	Swing arm is now a ?push-pull? machine. Won?t interfere 
with targets.
iii)	Extension flange piece ready for sign-off
b)	SBS
i)	Continuing magnet simulations
ii)	Working on support stand
iii)	Whit visited BNL. It was a very useful trip
(1)	Coils are questionable (not stored well)
(2)	They have and offered steel other than from extra 
magnets for counter-weight use.
(3)	Need to start property transfer paperwork
(4)	Have lots of pictures
(5)	Putting together a written report (will probably 
enter into the SBS minutes this week)
c)	Møller experiment: meeting Monday with MIT engineers.
d)	SOLID: looking into the Babar magnet. Need more information
e)	Susan continuing work on GRINCH with W&M
4)	Jessie Butler
a)	Installed Møller quads yesterday
b)	Compton magnets were tested on Friday. Had problems with the 
beacons.
c)	One (of two) Compton magnet lifted
i)	Need Compton magnet measuring plan. Sirish has one and 
will provide.
5)	Sirish Nanda give presentation on the status of the Compton 
Polarimeter upgrade
