Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting July 3, 2012
1)	Thia Keppel
a)	Introduces herself. Happy to no longer be working in 
hospital administration.
b)	Reminds us that lab employees with more than 240 hours of 
accumulated vacation time at the end of December will 
forfeit anything more than 240 hours at that time
c)	The lab has instituted a ?Voluntary Separation? program. All 
staff members were briefed last week.
d)	The PMP for SBS was signed by DOE
e)	Re the NSAC subcommittee deliberations, there are two 
documents circulating.
i)	National Academy Decadal report is out now
ii)	The JLab 12 GeV White paper is available for comments 
through today (7/3)
2)	Robin Wines
a)	12 GeV Upgrade:
i)	Møller:
(1)	All parts ordered, expect them to start arriving 
next week
(2)	Working on installation drawings and plan
ii)	Compton:
(1)	All parts ordered
(2)	Except working on new vacuum chamber and dipole 
field plates
b)	A1n: Al is checking what transversity equipment can be 
migrated to A1n
c)	SBS:
i)	Have layout of all experiments, checking for interferences 
and evaluating how to fix them
ii)	Modeling the SBS magnet along with the BigBite magnet 
to see how they interact
d)	Planned to transition to new CAD system this summer. To date 
taking training, but the system is not ready to move over 
to.
e)	Question: Where will we park the HRS?s in the future? Need 
to discuss this. Perhaps have regular meetings.
3)	Ed Folts
a)	Continuing with cryo upgrades
b)	Møller is waiting for parts
c)	g2p de-installation is going OK
d)	Doing mechanical upgrades
e)	Cleaning up old cables, gas lines, etc.
4)	John LeRose
a)	Doing optics studies of new septum configurations (optically 
Bogdan?s latest effort looks good)
b)	As CAM keeping eye on 12 GeV Upgrade in the Hall 
developments
c)	Project manager for SBS
5)	Bob Michaels
a)	Analyzing PVDIS data (Radiative corrections, NIM paper)
b)	Working on upgrade for Compton DAQ
c)	Doing PREX simulations
d)	Working on plan to move counting house computers and 
electronics into the Hall during counting house renovations
6)	Kalyan Allada
a)	Analyzing Transversity experiment results
b)	Supporting g2p
c)	Doing SOLID simulations
7)	Jixie Zhang
a)	Working on Møller Polarimeter upgrade
b)	For g2p:
i)	Doing simulations (added survey data last week)
ii)	Doing optics optimization
c)	Working on 2 proposals
d)	Finished detailed Radiative corrections for thesis data. May 
write a Class Note.
8)	Alexandre Camsonne
a)	Working on DVCS in Hall A
b)	Working on DAQ in spectrometers for future experiments
c)	FASTBUS test for A1n

a)	Working on:
i)	SOLID
ii)	Møller upgrade
iii)	General infrastructure upgrades for the Hall
10)	Sirish Nanda
a)	Compton polarimeter upgrade for 12 GeV
b)	Supporting DVCS and Parity experiments
11)	Bogdan Wojtsekhowski
a)	SBS, evaluating coordinate detector
b)	HRS, replacing VDC electronics
c)	Working on septum magnet design
d)	Identified new collaborators for the A1n gas Cherenkov
e)	Read some interesting articles in Russian journals regarding 
form factors, flavor decomposition of GE may be interesting
12)	Doug Higinbotham
a)	Looking after:
i)	BigBite hardware
ii)	Arc Energy
b)	Chair of radiation safety committee
c)	Working on numerous 6 GeV projects
d)	Attended Miha?s thesis defense last week
e)	Suggests we make sure the word is out re the counting house 
refurbishment
13)	Jixie Zhang adds that he has moved the Møller logbooks from 
the counting house to Javier?s office.
