Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting July 24, 2012
1)	Thia Keppel
a)	1st Foreign MOU (Yerevan) has been approved through the new 
DOE process. The process worked!
b)	There is a list of questions from NSAC re the range plan. As 
soon as she gets an electronic copy they will be e-mailed to 
everyone for consideration.
i)	They?re the same, pretty much, as last time.
c)	Accelerator has successfully tested two C-100 cryo-modules 
before the cryo shutdown and are trying to do a 3rd
d)	The lab is arranging for the Atlas spokesperson to give a 
Higgs seminar
2)	Ed Folts
a)	Working on:
i)	Cryogenics updates
ii)	Møller installation
iii)	G2p disassembly
3)	Robin Wines
a)	Compton:
i)	Jay Benesch has finished the initial analysis of the 
synchrotron radiation reducing plates. We are ordering 
parts.
ii)	Discussing dipole measurements
b)	Møller:
i)	Parts are coming in
ii)	4th Quad:
(1)	Winding coils
(2)	Core pieces have been annealed and are ready for 
final machining
c)	Looking at optimizing A1n
d)	SBS:
i)	Working through interferences
ii)	TOSCA modeling of BigBite and SBS together
e)	DVCS/Gmp: looking at scattering chamber options
f)	Septum: still looking for a physical solution
4)	Bob Michaels getting ready for the move of Counting House 
Computers to the Hall
5)	Ole Hansen
a)	Resumed work on SOLID tracking simulations
b)	Preparing for Counting House Computer move.
6)	Sirish Nanda
a)	Looking at synchrotron radiation solutions with Jay?s 
modeling of the magnets
b)	Mohammed is working on laser stuff
i)	Observing a peculiarity with the laser polarization in 
parts of the cavity
c)	Sensitive laser equipment will be removed from the Laser 
table
7)	Bert Manzlak
a)	Check your personal training record. If you have any expired 
training bring it up to date or if it is irrelevant have it 
removed
b)	We continue to use HALIST. Check your work task list. If you 
need work control documents get them. Help is available.
c)	Work observations and inspections will continue.
8)	John LeRose
a)	Working on getting 12 GeV AWP?s for next year ready
b)	SBS: looking at how to modify the PMP to accommodate the new 
coordinate detector solution.
9)	Jixie Zhang
a)	g2p optics
b)	Upgrading g2p simulations
c)	Debugging/updating the Radiative corrections program
10)	Kalyan Allada
a)	Working on SOLID simulations (putting CLEO model in GEANT3)
11)	Bogdan Wojtsekhowski
a)	SBS:
i)	Visited UVa to observe/discuss the 1st GEM module produced
(1)	Studying the 1st module
(2)	Considering improvements to the design and 
construction
ii)	Working on resolving interferences
iii)	Looking at possible changes in the coil design
