Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting May 29, 2012
1)	Ed Folts
a)	Cryotarget is being removed
b)	Beamline is going well
c)	Møller magnet is down
d)	Put Quadrupole on new stand
e)	Removed detector box from Møller
f)	Preparing new detector box
g)	Installing new cryo-valves
h)	In general on schedule
2)	Whit Seay
a)	Finished last drawings for Møller
b)	Joyce is working on pole extensions for Compton
c)	Robin is working on the SOLID magnet
d)	Wants to know what work will be needed for DVCS? Bob will 
forward something to him.
3)	Jian-Ping Chen
a)	SOLID Collaboration meeting is tomorrow and Thursday (6/13-
14) in L210
i)	Preparing for the director?s review
4)	Patrizia Rossi
a)	Suggests we have more central planning for things like 
collaboration meetings. They often overlap and shouldn?t
i)	Doug suggests that at minimum they should be on the JLab 
Calendar
ii)	Patrizia suggests we have a meeting early each year 
with the Hall Leaders and map out plans for such meetings
5)	Ole Hansen
a)	Reports on software review last week
i)	Subject was computing and computer resources for the 
12 GeV era
ii)	Generally went well
iii)	Reviewers were friendly and interested
iv)	Main focus was on the high data volume Halls
v)	Open item on to-do list is SBS
(1)	Broad responsibilities have been assigned
(2)	Anticipates a call for more detailed plans with 
milestones
vi)	Questions arose re software quality assurance. In fact, 
Hall A already does a lot of that.
vii)	Waiting for final report
6)	Doug Higinbotham
a)	Suggests we make the Q1?s remove able (frees up space around 
the pivot and easy to rearrange the plumbing during the 
down)
b)	Needs further investigation
7)	Bert Manzlak
a)	Has list of reminders:
i)	If you?re doing any work in the Hall during the long 
shutdown that isn?t on the LSD schedule check with the 
work coordinator beforehand
ii)	RADCON is very busy. Plan accordingly
iii)	Don?t forget your work control documents (TOSP?s, 
OSP?s, etc.). If in doubt, ask!
iv)	Report all injuries and illnesses
v)	Undergraduates MUST have an escort at all times in the 
Hall for their 1st 3 months
