Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting April 2, 2013
1)	Thia Keppel
a)	Announces new daily ?get together? sponsored by the Theory 
Group at 13:00 in A110. Format is free cookies provided by 
the Theory Group along with informal conversations
b)	From the senior staff meeting
i)	There is NO NEWS re the budget. Don?t believe what you 
read in the papers
(1)	Some modifications are ?on their way? but not here 
yet.
ii)	Progress with MOU?s, there is now an MOU Status 
Spreadsheet that will be regularly distributed to the Hall 
Leaders
iii)	Anticipating safety reviews cross divisional re things 
like fire safety
(1)	Patrizia Rossi elaborates on the history
(a)	EH&S bounced the problem to facilities
(b)	Facilities bounced it back saying they had no 
money for such things
iv)	Property and key validation continues. Thia, Robin, and 
Jack are the only ones left in Hall A with things 
outstanding.
v)	Phone meeting was held today with Tim Hallman re the 
Comparative Research Review tentatively scheduled for the 
2nd week in June. Still working on the format and agenda.
vi)	NSAC facilities report has been out for some time now. 
The High Energy version came out on March 22nd.
vii)	Doon Gibbs has been named the new director of 
Brookhaven National Laboratory
c)	Hall A CC is still looking for nominations for the upcoming 
election. They have 12 so far. Nominations close on Friday 
(4/5) at noon
d)	Thia is sending around an e-mail today asking for input on 
what will be needed for 12 GeV operations. Please respond 
quickly.
2)	Sirish Nanda
a)	Reports on activities of the ESAD revision committee
i)	Met today
ii)	Problem is documents for the Halls are not consistent
iii)	Have decided the Hall C model is the best, 30 pages, 
the shortest, but still too long.
iv)	Trying for 10-20 pages
v)	Will require some rework for Hall A
3)	Whit Seay
a)	Making progress on HRS Detector Stack for DVCS
b)	All SBS configuration layouts are finished
c)	Finishing cutouts for SBS magnet iron
d)	Postponing work on Polarized 3He target pending evaluation 
of shielding needs
e)	Work continues on the raster
i)	Ceramic pipe is in
f)	Established space limits for APEX septum upgrade
g)	SBS magnet: Robin has requested tentative shipping dates so 
we can put the purchase REQ together
4)	Ed Folts
a)	DC power upgrades
b)	Cryo upgrades
c)	Tweaking vacuum pump down system for magnets
d)	Cleaning up the laser lab
5)	Steve Smith reports on latest safety survey results
