Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting August 27, 2013
1)	Doug Higinbotham
a)	Messages from Thia:
i)	Hall A is out of money. No more REQ?s will be signed 
unless they are desperately needed (Rolf?s decision)
ii)	Physics has done well with using vacation time (keep it 
up)
b)	The fourth quarter Supplemental Information Report is due. 
We need to update publications (journals, publications, 
thesis, and invited talks) and any awards any of us may 
receive between July 1, 2013 and September 30, 2013. (See 
Doug if you need help)
c)	From the senior staff meeting:
i)	Money is tight!
ii)	The lab has increased the overhead rate to 53%
iii)	Accelerator Readiness Review was held last week. No 
report yet, but comments were positive. The next review 
will be in October
iv)	2 unrelated network failures last week (software bug 
and a hardware problem) raised telecommunications issues.  
When the network goes down we lose all phone service, even 
cell phones.
v)	Re the list of ?things we do to ourselves? was compiled 
into a 3.5 page memo and forwarded to Mont.
vi)	Walt Akers showed the present status of the testlab 
usage plans for the coming years

2)	Robin Wines
a)	Gmp/DVCS:
i)	The extension flange has been awarded (lower than 
expected)
ii)	Working with Larry Philips to make the rastering tubes 
in-house
b)	SBS:
i)	All steel and coils from Brookhaven arrived here last 
week.
ii)	Have one more coil drawing to do. Will circulate it 
this week and hopefully be ready to go to procurement next 
week
iii)	Working on floor plates
iv)	Putting REQ?s for hydraulics
v)	Trying to get Brookhaven to send us some of the hardware 
used to disassemble and reassemble the magnet
c)	Received a new design for the Møller superconducting target 
holder.
d)	Working on the Tritium vent system
e)	Working on detector hardware
3)	Jessie Butler
a)	Moving out of the trailer
b)	Cryogenics work continues. Worried about falling behind 
schedule. Still have unresolved software issues. Cryo may 
need an account to charge time to in order to give us full 
time help.
c)	Continuing leak checking
d)	In general if you have to move things please coordinate it 
through Thia and Ed
e)	Doug adds that there will shortly be a call for some 
technician support from each of the Halls to help 
disassemble the clean room in Blue Crab
4)	Bogdan Wojtsekhowski gives presentation on HRS Detector Package
