Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting January 8, 2013
1)	Thia Keppel
a)	Report from senior staff meeting:
i)	Performance appraisal process continues. Expect to get 
something requiring your signature in the next few weeks.
ii)	Re the new webstock application, check to see if any 
companies are missing
iii)	Thursday (1/10) there will be a safety vendor fair and 
mandatory Long Shutdown safety meeting 
iv)	Doors are now open during the day, till 6 PM. Also, 
true for the EEL.
v)	Procedures for experimental readiness have been reviewed 
with EHS&Q and look OK
vi)	Will need new ESAD for base equipment (~40 pages)
vii)	The first GHP dissertation award went to Dr. Jin Huang 
for his work in Hall A on Transversity
viii)	Recent discussions with DOE:
(1)	4 Hall operations got positive response
(2)	CLEO magnet acquisition got positive response
ix)	DOE budget briefing will be February 6
x)	EIC 2nd Conference on QCD and Hadron Physics planned in 
China (Chinese also interested in building an EIC!)
xi)	JSA Science council meeting coming up
xii)	NSAC sub-committee report went to NSAC yesterday (1/7). 
NSAC meets 28-29 January to discuss.
xiii)	12 GeV re-baseline has been delayed
b)	Please sign up for talks at weekly meetings
2)	Robin Wines
a)	GMp/DVCS
i)	Separating files from DVCS into 3 separate files
ii)	Shielding drawings:
(1)	Downstream is done
(2)	Still working on upstream
iii)	Extra piece needs review by Bogdan
iv)	Support frame drawings are done
v)	Wire target needs final review
b)	SBS:
i)	TOSCA modeling is ongoing
ii)	Working on base counterweight system
c)	SOLID-CLEO-BABAR estimates
3)	Ed Folts
a)	Stand is off the pivot
b)	Cryo software can now see the hardware. Testing
c)	Surveying Møller quads. Should be back in place by the end 
of the week.
d)	Introduces Jason Glorioso, new technician.
e)	Compton magnet power, everything is ready except the 
paperwork.
4)	Bert Manzlak
a)	If you have any test/work setup, make sure you have the 
proper documentation in pave. (Alist, TOSP, etc.) Contact 
Bert Manzlak for guidance (Manzlak at jlab.org)
5)	Ole Hansen
a)	Gives talk on ?Hall A Counting House Computing Update?
