Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting June 11, 2013
1) Thia Keppel
a) From the senior staff meeting:
i) The reprogramming package has been approved by the senate
and the house! No furloughs!
(1) Nevertheless we have a $1M cut
(2) Austerity measures are still in effect
(3) Take vacations
ii) Recent ad re staff scientist I position was a mistake
on HR?s part.
iii) SRF moved to the TEDF last weekend. This weekend our
engineering and design staff will move to TEDF.
iv) The laser lab is done
v) 2nd floor of the Counting House is suffering from budget
woes
(1) New planning is occurring
(2) 1st floor projected to be ready for occupancy by
July
vi) The dark light experiment has been formally approved by
the Lab
vii) 3He stockpile requests are out. We need to supply Chris
Keith with information.
viii) Accelerator readiness review has been postponed
until after hot checkout. They want to hold the review
after everything is in place.
ix) MEP comparative review is tomorrow (6/12)
b) Hall A Collaboration meeting is Thursday and Friday this
week (6/13-14)
c) SBS Collaboration meeting was last week. Was well attended.
There has been much progress
d) Got CLEO magnet feedback from Will Oren and Mont
e) Meetings on the AC in the tunnel question are starting. 1st
one is June 21
2) Whit Seay
a) Chamber design modifications are complete
b) Updating beam line drawings
c) Al is busy with lots of things
d) Packing up to move next weekend
i) Expect inefficiencies next week while unpacking
3) Ed Folts
a) Cryo control hardware work
b) Had some cryo control software support last week
c) Insulating return lines
d) Working on magnet power lead guards
e) Raster work continues
f) Patch panels work continues
g) Needs a final beam line configuration
4) Charles Hightower
a) Thanks Ed for his write up of machine tool directives
i) Encourages all to read them
5) Bogdan Wojtsekhowski introduces two students, Austin Milby and
Justin Hunneshagen who will be working this summer mostly on
PMT testing
6) Julie Roche introduces two students:
a) Tyler Coy: an undergraduate student working on a new
experiment idea using SBS with Paul King
b) Norman Israel: a master student working on the preparation
of the upcoming DVCS experiment especially the DAQ.
7) Jian-Ping Chen gives talk on the status of the Polarized 3He
target for A1n-A
