Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting November 19, 2013
1)	Thia Keppel
a)	From the senior staff meeting:
i)	We can expect capital equipment tables from Rolf very 
soon.
ii)	Preparations are underway for the Software Review next 
Monday (11/25). All talks to be posted by COB on Thursday 
(11/21)
iii)	There is now a pslist (equivalent to halist, hblist, 
etc.) for the support group?s activities
iv)	EIC: there?s a lot of work going on. It?s moving 
forward.
v)	Performance appraisals are due into Physics by Thursday 
(11/21)
vi)	There was one DART (Days Away Restricted or 
Transferred) last week
(1)	Main message is keep occupational medicine 
informed of any work related medical conditions or 
restrictions you have.
vii)	Accelerator Readiness Reviews:
(1)	Phase II: 
(a)	Scheduled for the end of February. (CW beam to 
Hall A and tune beam to the Hall D tagger dump
(b)	Physics needs more ownership
(i)	Weekly meetings after Thanksgiving (Doug, 
Robin, Javier, and Patrizia from Physics)
(ii)	Want to better define what is ours and what 
is Accelerator?s
viii)	Hall A Readiness review ? December 9-10
(1)	Expect a draft agenda in the next few days
(2)	E-mail notifications will go to people re talk 
responsibilities
ix)	Readiness Documentation update from Doug Higinbotham:
(1)	Presently focused on the new ESAD, which will have 
more details than before
x)	12 GeV priorities meeting
(1)	Accelerator is reviewing signature authorities to 
reduce costs
(2)	CHL2 held at 2K for 4 hours. Decided they needed a 
larger load. Will use the FEL
xi)	There is not a hiring freeze. We can go ahead with our 
Post-Doc
2)	Robin Wines
a)	DVCS/GMp:
i)	Still on schedule to receive exit flange pieces on Dec. 4
ii)	Working on:
(1)	Ferrow arm
(2)	Floor plates
(3)	Installing wire target
(4)	Planning to have cryo target put in
b)	SBS:
i)	Steel machining bids are in but not yet released from 
procurement
ii)	Coil bids are finalized
iii)	Working on:
(1)	Support structure
(2)	LCW
(3)	Magnet assembly
c)	Tritium exhaust system: have done the layout. Starting on 
costs and exterior support.
d)	Møller: costing new beamline
e)	Updating support system for SOLID
3)	Ed Folts
a)	Ready to start assembling the target chamber as needed for 
DVCS. Should he start?  Thia says he should move ahead 
unless he hears otherwise.
b)	They started work on the beam dump today
c)	Beamline is leak tight to the target chamber
i)	Bob Michaels says leave the raster pipes in
d)	Started cleanup of the Cryo system
e)	Assembling Jib Crane for DVCS cabling
f)	Reducing loose cables
4)	Bert Manzlak
a)	Reiterates earlier remarks re DART (use the people in 
occupational medicine)
b)	halist: make sure you fill it out for any test setups and 
print out pertinent information and the task #. Contact Bert 
with questions (manzlak at jlab.org )
5)	Bob Michaels gives updates on:
a)	CAEN 1495 as an MLU in the trigger
b)	Compton DAQ performance at high rates
c)	HV status
