Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting: January 16, 2018

1. Thia Keppel
   a. Senior Staff Meeting
     i. Collaboration meetings next week – likely canceling weekly Hall meetings
     ii. Some snow coming tomorrow….might close, point Janet to shift schedule for people allowed in (keep 
          running)
     iii. Expect (Monday @ 2PM?) All – hands meeting during Hall C collaboration  meeting
     iv. Last Thursday Paul Dabbar visit
        1. Shared he was interested in EIC and international collaborations 
        2. Talkative and knowledgeable
     v. Last Thursday & Friday – Tech Transfer Workshop – mix of agencies, businesses, universities,….
        1. Went very well
        2. Hurdles discussed, we can solve some issues
     vi. Foreign Travel
        1. There will be a new DOE policy on training requirements (email to come)
        2. Started January 1st!
        3. Prepare early for foreign travel
     vii. Friday afternoon – we’re running!
        1. 4 Hall operation
     viii. Beam schedule….new plan to be uploaded, reflecting December changes
     ix. No news about the budget
     x. Lab agenda
        1. Alternate work schedule policy coming! 
        2. Initiatives/milestones to assess
     xi. UGBOD meeting last week
        1. Walt to look at user space in F wing
          a. Can’t park in space if only here for 2-3 weeks/year
          b. Being used efficiently currently?
          c. Move to increase bullpens potentially 
        2. EIC big topic
     xii. D; Bleed through to Hall D <1nA now
     xiii. EIC  
        1. Thursday & Friday semi-annual detector R & D meeting
        2. Streaming readout workshop @ MIT 1/29 – 1/30
     xiv. Dave Meekins gave a Tritium target presentation – nice!!!

2. Robin Wines
   a. SBS
     i. Continue on ECAL frame drawings and analysis
   b. APEX
     i. Continue on drawings of Q1 steel inserts
     ii. Met with Jessie to walk through what’s needed for installation and process
   c. Tritium
     i. Detailing bealine shielding for Fall run (also to be used for APEX and PREX/CREX)

3. Jessie Butler
   a. Worked on schedules for APEX and PREX
   b. Made “cheat sheets” for cryogenic operations during run
   c. Worked on a pressure/vacuum test fixture for Jack and a drawing for mounting blocks for heaters used for 
       ice management
   d. Tuning cryo system ahead of run
   e. Spent the week getting the hall ready to receive beam
   f. Installed rack panels in the Counting House
   g. There was a communication error on R-HRS and L-HRS dipole tripped on a lead flow fault

4. Jack Segal
   a. R-HRS dipole problems
     i. Troubleshooting 1/23 beam down day
     ii. Off until then

5. Run Coordinator – Evan McClellan
