Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting: April 24, 2018

1. Thia Keppel
   a. Senior Staff Meeting
     i. May 1 Run – Around (now added a 1 mile competition between DOE labs)
     ii. May 2 12 GeV Dedication
     iii. June 21 SoLID Meeting @ DOE
     iv. Omnibus – more $$ than anticipated
       1. Some went to SNS for power upgrade (means cryomodule $$ for us)
       2. $112M for FY181! (to JLab)
         a. Use to run 10 extra weeks, consumables and repairs
     v. Physics start 8/23
       1. Schedule to Hall Leaders for a review in ~ a couple of days
       2. 2019 & beyond schedule should come out in ~ weeks (work underway now)
     vi. May 10 access control software test (doors may be closed ~ 10 minutes)
     vii. pCDR 18pp for eRHIC exists  (ring – ring design)
       1. We need one too!....help Rik…try for late September ~500 pp
       2. Accelerator R & D, hadron cooling not included
         a. At first, weird, more money appeared – some more ~$800K to us + to FNAL
       3. DIS meeting, a lot of EIC discussion, future facilities
         a. LHeC + other CERN ideas
         b. Produce a document that will go into CERN 2020 planning document 
         c. Need this to be compatible with HL-LHC
       4. Fellowship deadline end of this month
     viii. Look for email…..suggest talks for A/C user meeting!
   b. Hall News
     i. PREX2/CREX Hall readiness coordination meeting this week

2. Whit Seay
   a. SBS
     i. ECal back frame and assembly drawings being worked as filler work until APEX/PREX2/CREX work is done
     ii. RICH detector delivered
     iii. HCal filler shims delivered so parts are here for summer assembly
   b. APEX
     i. Corrector assembly work awarded
     ii. Extension box support awarded
     iii. Most of group’s time put into design/analysis/drawings of septum support and carriage
     iv. Need to rebuild APEX assembly in new CAD software (transfer from old software to new, did not work 
              well – assemblies to large)
   c. PREX2/CREX
     i. Updating cost sheet
     ii. Continue on shielding support then beam dump shielding

3. Jessie Butler
   a. Continue to work with Al on the design for the APEX/PREX2/CREX pivot stand
   b. Reviewed/verified APEX target system parts
   c. Ordered parts for TDIS test fixture
   d. Continue to support the tritium experiment in which we had two hall accesses during this week
   e. During beam studies on Monday, we entered the Hall to look over systems and to check vacuums
   f. During RF recovery on Tuesday, we entered the Hall to assist Survey & Alignment on doing pointing surveys 
           of both spectrometers
   g. Continue doing work in the Test Lab
   h. Assembled more of the HCal modules (3 of 4 complete) in to subassemblies
   i. Moved Moller Target setup from the Test Lab to ESB
   j. Had to rearrange equipment in the Test Lab following the work that was done over the past weekend to 
            clean off the south end crane
   k. Took delivery of the RICH detector and placed in the ESB for storage
