Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting: March 12, 2019


1.      Steve Wood

a.       No Senior Staff meeting

b.      Make sure you go to new timesheet training



2.      Douglas Higinbotham

a.       Evan will be going to Theory, this is his last weekly meeting

b.      Arun Tadepalli & Scott Barcus joining us as new postdocs



3.      Jessie Butler

a.       Continue to support APEX experiment

b.      The beam was off for most of the week so we took the opportunity to go in the hall and check all vacuum & cryogenic systems

c.       Changed polarity of R-HRS and both correctors at the beginning of the week and then changed them back on Friday after the collaboration took a few hours of data

d.      Tuesday evening there was an issue in the hall in which the RQ3 & R-dipole were over-filling with helium. We were able to power down the magnets & close the fill valves to control the problem overnight before addressing the issue the next morning. It appears to have been some tuning issues within the system that created the problem

e.       Received & QA the target chamber downstream flange & took it to the Machine Shop to have holes put in it for Survey & Alignment

f.        Repackaged & shipped PREX septum transitions back to the manufacturer after discovering they were fabricated with the wrong downstream flange

g.      Continue to work on fitting PREX septum coils and fabricating LCW lines
