[Halla_pi0] pi0 meeting 1:30 PM

Dear Richard and all

Enclosed is a preprint of our new Mainz electro-pi0 results which correct our old publication.
You will see that the Q^2 dependence is much gentler than previously claimed. I think that this
resolves an old problem. We do not know exactly what went wrong with the previous data, but the Q^2 =0.10 GeV^2
point which was the Distler thesis, was the first experiment done at MAMI. The new calibrations and data analysis
software have been well tested and are more reliable. The new data at Q^2 =0.05 GeV^2 is in good agreement with the
Weiss data.

Clearly the new BigBite data will enlarge the kinematic coverage, most
importantly at high Q^2. The new Mainz results were obtained with an unpolarized electron beam so
the TL' results in Bigbite are an even larger addition to the previous data.
The paper has been submitted to Physics Letters and posted on the web.
Let me know if you have any questions.

regards,
Aron
