Hi all,
Just a quick update on the power situation.
Upshot:
Emergency power will dropping out again tomorrow (Friday) morning.
The adaq and cdaq machines should be back up noon on Friday and should
stay up.
What's happening:
The emergency circuit that is currently providing power to the Hall A
racks and some IT switches is currently up, /however/ it will be going
down again tomorrow sometime after 6am and will be back before noon.
During that time Facilities will wire in a few more power sockets off
the emergency circuit to supply power to the Hall C computer racks.
After that both Hall A and C should have stable power off the
emergency line for about 1.5--2 weeks. Note that the generator
that normally backs the emergency circuit is /not/ in the loop
right now (see Walt's message below.)
At some point after the generator is repaired the emergency power
circuit will need to be shut down in order to hook the generator back
into the circuit. _Hopefully_ we can defer that interruption until
after other non-emergency circuits are re-energized. That means we
should /not/ have to shut down the computers again.
Either way, we (Walt, Ole, Brad, Bryan, etc) should be notified before
any future interruptions so we can plan for them and minimize
downtime.
