Hello everyone,

we are beginning to prepare the Hall A counting house computers for the
fall Tritium experiments.

As a first step, the analysis computers aonl1-3 will be upgraded to
CentOS 7 starting this afternoon, in the order aonl3, aonl2, aonl1. If
you are currently doing replay or other work on these machines, please
temporarily switch to aonl4. aonl4 will be upgraded later in October.

If anyone is still running analysis jobs for DVCS, gmp12 or Ar40 on any
of the counting house computers, please stop doing so and migrate to the
JLab farm. This would also be a good time to clean up any old production
data (e.g. *.root) you may have on the counting house machines. Files
you wish to keep can be written to tape (MSS) using jput. You can do so
from the a-onl account by copying temporarily your personal Scientific
Computing certificate into the folder ~a-onl/.scicomp, or by running
jcert to generate a new certificate. Production data files from previous
experiments that we find on the counting house machines will eventually
be deleted, probably around mid-November.

The main DAQ machines, adaq1-3, will be reconfigured towards the end of
next week.

ROOT 6 will become the default on all CentOS 7 machines.

Please contact me with any questions and concerns.

Regards,
Ole
