This is a (not so) common problem.  You may need to configure your 
Browser settings.

The Computer Center suggests the following:
"If you have problems opening pdf documents in the Firefox browser do 
the following:

Tools (or Options) ->Options->Applications->Portable Document Format 
(PDF) ->Change "Preview in Firefox" to "Use Adobe Acrobat(in 
Firefox)"->Save Settings"
