Dear all

The shifts schedule for the upcoming run period has been published and can be viewed here:

https://www.jlab.org/Hall-B/shifts/

The period is as follows:

27 January 2025 - 21 July 2025

The schedule reflects the 176 days, 6 shifts per day, 528 expert + 528 worker, 1056 shifts in total (264 blocks).
I decided to offset the Expert/Worker by 2 days for no reason other than it has been a while since we did this. You’ll see 2 faces in the neighbouring seat during a 4 day block.

The allocation takes account of an institutes number of members and translates this to number of shifts. Rounding (up or down) does happen in order that every institute gets at least some allocation. There are other elasticities built-in such that the algorithm works. The final numbers look ok.

There is one thing to be aware of. After discussions with the PRad Collaboration, we agreed that some of their members would staff Worker Shifts during this RG-L run period in order that they gain experience of the Counting House before their own experiment runs.
The agreement amounts to 19 members each doing 8 shifts (2 blocks). The result is that the 38 Worker Blocks which will be staffed by PRad’ers has reduced our CLAS12 Worker Shift load. This is a very good agreement for both parties.

The swaps and trade features allow you to sort your allocation in to a form you are happy with. Please also remember that a third option exists: ask a fellow collaborator nicely for a favour.

The swap periods are defined as follows:

Foreign: now until Thursday 12 December
Domestic: Friday 17 December - Thursday 16 january
Allowing Locals the remaining time to get themselves organised.

Trades (bilateral agreements between institutes): are always open to all for all time.
Please remember that it is most appropriate to request Trades within the same category (Expert for Expert, Worker for Worker).

Shifts sign-up is now open but if there is a possibility that your shifts may be part of a swap, it is better to wait before making any personnel assignments and travel arrangements.

If you have any issues with the interface, please do not hesitate to contact me mckinnon at jlab.org <mailto:mckinnon at jlab.org>

If you have any issues filling your allocation, please contact me mckinnon at jlab.org <mailto:mckinnon at jlab.org> and the PDL for this run period Daniel carman at jlab.org <mailto:carman at jlab.org>.

Regards
Bryan
