[Hallc_running] [New Logentry] RC Update

After the beam came back yesterday afternoon (~2:30) there were a few issues with the HMS dipole that led to it interlocking and needing to be reset. Luckily these were resolved and from early swing shift through to early owl shift things were pretty smooth sailing. The first setting of this kinematics point reached its stats goal (https://hallcweb.jlab.org/wiki/index.php/Kaon_LT_Status_Page).

Unfortunately, after this things got a little bit rough. When rotating the SHMS to 13 degrees for the next kinematics setting, the shift crew ran into some difficulties. The SHMS did not stop at its set point and kept moving beyond this. The crew hit the crash button and stopped the spectrometer.

To get back up and running this required a hall access to reset the rotation and to move the spectrometer to the correct angle. Many thanks to Steve Lassiter for coming in during the early hours of the morning to do this. When checking the commands sent to the spectrometer motors, Steve noticed some slightly odd behaviour coming from the magnet control computer. Until he can look into this further, he has disabled the remote rotation for the spectrometers as a precaution.

The next rotation is scheduled to occur during swing shift tomorrow (and fortunately we will be at this setting for a long time). Due to the strange behaviour of the spectrometers and the need for an access to rotate them now, Steve Lassiter will come in to facilitate this rotation.

Until then we will press on with the current setting which is now running smoothly and collecting stats nicely.
