Dear Collaborators:
In the past 24 hours, we suffers a few issues (in both hall C specific and accelerator related) which blocked our progress in the measurement. The anticipated moller measurement was not completed due to frozen controller reset (morning), solenoid trip (afternoon) and lack of beam (started at around noon) of yesterday. The overnight beam delivered was called off, and we kept monitoring the NMR measurement which provided important reference in understanding the target behavior. Here, I would like to thank Bill, Murchana, Anu, Maria for looking after the target and over staying their shift hours to attempt moller measurement.
Please see the NMR results from yesterday afternoon to this morning:
Yesterday 14:51, 19.5%, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3831632
Yesterday 20:27, 31.28%, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3831743
Yesterday 23:29, 33.91%, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3831771
Today 2:30 am, 36.2%,
Today 5:30 am, 38.2%, https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3831825
Today 8:30 am, 39.3%. https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3831845
Today, beginning 8:30, the hall entered 3 day target swap operation, we will be in restricted access for most of this time. If you have special task that need to be completed (that is not related to the target or Simona's Solid Cherenkov work), please let Brad and me know. Note that the SHMS vacuum line pumping work also started this morning.
Looking ahead, Brad and I have made appropriate arrangement with the weekend shifters. I would like to remind the shifters who are on-call to stay close to their phone during the shift hour.
There will be no RC meeting today (Friday, 8/21) and tomorrow (Saturday, 8/22). I will forward a very short note on the target installation progress from the target experts.
In terms of the COVID 19 restrictions and guild lines. I must say all experts and shifters have taken the distancing and face mask rules very seriously. I must thank everyone for their high level of awareness and effort. We must keep practicing the same.
In the same time I have decided to suggest some changes regarding the food situation in the counting house based on recent critic citation (food related). I believe these changes are necessary to minimize the risk:
1. All food are removed from the round table. Fruit are now store in the fridge, and individually packaged snacks are store on the shelf below the coffee machine.
2. No food near the SL and TO control station. If you would like to eat something, please use the empty round table (used to store food in the past), that is now empty and sanitized.
3. New coffee guide line: it is much preferred if you can bring you mug for the coffee. During the shift if one need to drink coffee near the control station, then the coffee mug must have a lid or have some kind of cover.
I hope these new food guide line are not too radical, if you have any other thoughts please let me know.
