In terms of Physics data taking, not a great deal today. They took beam way pretty much exactly when they said and after that, we were down until they said we'd get beam back. We got a first look at how rates were going to be for our negative polarity settings though.
Various other tasks were completed though, Dave Mack got a preliminary BCM calibration out for us - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3905426
Jacob took stock of where we are in terms of our Physics Settings - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3905337
I re-analysed one of our earlier settings with the variety of parameter updates we have and found a few more pions hiding under the floorboards/in the drift chamber - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3905357
Simona took a closer look at the NGC with our first -ve polarity runs - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3905352 - Jacob also had some plots - https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3905290
Brad worked on cycling the HGC gas, we're back up and running just as they were *really* ready to give us beam back at around 19:40.
Now that we're taking data again, we should be able to have a quick look and see if this has resolved our light yield issues or if it's back to the drawing board tomorrow. Keep an eye out for some posts on this topic this evening.
And finally, we have some ongoing SHMS calorimeter calibration updates and hopefully some further updates to the coin time parameters.
The RF separator work wasn't actually completed today, so we will be down again tomorrow so they can finish that - see https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3905335 - The update later was that we should keep getting beam till ~08:30 tomorrow.
That should give us plenty of time to finish a few physics settings. We have 6.5 hours to run on our right (SHMS 6.26) LD2- setting, we will run for 2 more hours at 10uA before doing 4.5 hours at 8uA. We then have ~50 minutes of dummy target to take before we rotate out to 8.26 degrees for the central setting. Beam permitting, we will stay there until the start of day shift tomorrow taking data.
And of course, it wouldn't be an RC update from me without some stupid Matrix reference... but this one actually has a point!
If you're on shift and the top centre TV screen in the counting house goes off/plunges you into the matrix (no really, this is the only way to really adequately describe it), check the HDMI cable connection. It seems like it's a little loose or a connector somewhere isn't happy. It went off today during the day shift but with some fiddling with the connection, it came back OK and has stayed that way all day.
We will have a meeting tomorrow morning at 10:00 - https://bluejeans.com/861439920 - Meeting ID : 861439920
