[Halld-cal] [EXTERNAL] BCAL calibration status

Hi Sean:

GlueX monitoring launch:

1) Iterations: Karthik has completed 18 or so iterations. Things have converged. Please view attached plots. pi0 mass is coming out at 0.1346 MeV, which should be more than adequate for today’s monitoring launch. Also, see attached plot for pi0 mass as a function of run number for Batch 1.

2) Non-linearity: Karthik also applied the standard non-linearity method. See plots below. It’s not perfect, but over a vast range of energies, within 1%. Again, more than adequate for today.

So, we should be GO TO GO for the monitoring launch as fas a the BCAL is concerned. Karthik is in the process of uploading the new constants and dealing with the non-linearity correction. (He will confirm by email once this is done)

3) Discussion item for next CALWG. Related to yesterday’s meeting, Karthik also produced a comparison of ccdb constants from the different run periods. A couple of those may have not had gain ratios applied. Mark can verify this. So, they started with a previous calibration set, iterated, and produced the new set. Differences are plotted in the attached plot.

There is more work to do before the Batch 1 Analysis launch, in examining the issues below and a few others that we have been collecting.

Please let us know if you have questions.

Cheers, the Regina crew...

Details
======

1. Runs Used for the calibration are 71350 71591
2. Started of the calibration with fall 2018 gains with Mark's gainratio applied to it.
3. The pi0 mass converged to 0.1346 GeV which is about 0.3 % lower than pi0mass. For Fall 2018 it was 0.1348 GeV. A total of 19 Iterations were done
4. The mean/sigma ratio for this batch seem to be the least among all of the Run periods so far.
5. The same nonlinear corrections are applied after the gain calibrations. The same 9 parameter equation was used with an anchor point at 11Gev at 0.95.
6. The nonlinear corrections seem to over correct by about a percent, This could be due to SiPM pixel.count. Need to redo the optimal SiPM pixel/count determination again
