[Halld-cpp] CPP trigger disucssion

Hi Ilya,
for you document I get the impression that we are working with 8 bits
per plane. However
in the last meeting we were talking about 16 bits. So I am guessing that
there are some
additional steps happening that are not mentioned in the document?
the CTP document
https://halldweb.jlab.org/DocDB/0010/001019/002/D00000-16-08-S001-CTP_Module.pdf
states that each F250 has 8 two line differential connections to the CTP
that can
be used for either HB or TS mode (for TOF trigger). However it does not
outline
in detail how this is achieved. I sent an email to Fernando asking him
for detailed
documentation about this is implemented on the Xilinks FPGAs of the CTP
board.
To clarify for all:
each F250 will communicate a hit pattern to the CTP through the 8
differential connections
to the CTP. Why this should be able to handle 16 bits (as mentioned in
the document) is not
clear to me. Based on these hit patterns from the F250s the CTP will
create a global
hit pattern for both TOF planes. Based on this I still claim that a
single F250 ADC can
have only signals from either TOP, BOTTOM, NORTH or SOUTH PMTs in it but
never a mixture
of them.
cheers,
Beni
