Pentchev, Yi Qiang, Sascha Somov, Simon Taylor, Tim Whitlatch, Elliott
    Wolin, Glenn Young, Beni Zihlmann

Eugene

      * BIASOL fixed for this fiscal year, 420 k$ in total
+ taken from BIAGRP, BIAOLC during last go-around
+ this round: taken from BIAOLC, electronics, other bia projects
      * most likely that FY11 will be under a continuing resolution for 6
        months
      * 12 GeV project is immune
+ DOPS and BIA subject to restrictions: FY10 budget - 10%
      * Lab thinking about a general strategy for budget for 12 GeV
        operations
           + various scenarios for operations
+ Larry: increase by 1/3 (one hall)
           + what if flat?
o run three halls, fourth hall fallow or mothballed
o physics staff dedicated to a hall
o tech and support staff held at current level and shared
                  among three running halls
o less efficient, even for three halls running at once
o perhaps fewer weeks of running
      * BIACAL finished this year

Mark

      * computing model, spreadsheet using CLAS model
      * iteration on calibration database with David
      * some activity on UMass and FSU MOU's with Elton
      * round claiming of progress for BIAOLC

Yi

      * SiPM lifetime due to radiation damage
           + Pavel Degtiarenko: with 1/3 efficiency, 7 to 10 years for a
             factor of 10 in noise
+ Pavel's simulation of Hall A: factor 2.5 higher than dose
             measured
+ looking at damage with a calibrated source
o 32 rem, increase of 3.5 with source
o compare with 35 rem in Hall A giving a factor of 10 in
                  damage
+ 1x1 SiPM has an anomaly: much higher damage than 3x3
      * continuing on HMI work for solenoid test

David

      * field uniformity studies with Simon, document about to be uploaded
        to DocDB
+ not a lot of gain so far
+ perhaps even gains for non-uniform field
+ field configurations so far limited to those with the current
             yoke
      * calibration condition database specification
+ try to have it done before Dmitry gets here
      * 48-core machine not available last week
+ funny behavior: sometimes slow, sometimes fast
      * workshop on parallelization: first draft of all documents done
      * working with students: ROOTSpy, event viewer, Micah's thesis
        project
      * looking at understanding implications of multiple events in one
        trigger

Simon

      * fast helical fitter using drift time information constructed
+ constant field, different field configurations tried
+ runs 4 times faster, systematic errors due to non-constant
             field
      * working on Kalman fitter, SIMD issue
+ certain versions of gcc, OS's: does not work
           + for now disabled

Lubomir

      * working with Fastrack estimating when parts are needed
+ assume new clean room in October
+ need about 2.5 weeks to make one layer prototype
+ assumes 8 people full time
+ start mass production in November
      * procurements proceeding
      * wire winding progress: UVa has position measurements working, work
        on tension measurements
      * response from IUCF on strong-backs
+ they are ready to ship
           + here in several weeks
      * will attend conference: applications of accelerators in research
        and industry

Elliott

      * dana-evio work with new jana
           + application to event display
+ will add objects to event display
      * magnet test:
+ today is moving day, racks to test lab
                o locations have been identified
o racks mostly done, a few parts coming in
+ power supply, new flow switches, dump resister replaced for
             one coil
+ OSP: try for final documents end of month
           + PLC programming almost done
+ arranging connection to guard shack, from test set-up
+ polarity needs to be chosen

George

      * Elton and Eugene working on response to turn-to-turn concern of
        reviewer
      * path for designing a new magnet:
+ going to DOE on the 26th with a proposal
           + Claus, Allison
      * coil 1 complete and ready for test
      * IUCO reports leak-tight shield[?] on coil 3
      * coil 2 waiting for tooling for support of coils

Tim

      * ES&H item: putting rack together in F117, requirement that things
are not plugged in violated a few weeks ago
+ will use administrative lock from now on
      * design review on tagger magnet: sascha put together requirements
+ 1010 vs. 1006[?] steel, vacuum annealing need
      * CDC parts to be modified to adjust tolerances
      * still waiting on straws for cdc

Beni

      * continuing work on CDC, 6 to 8 week delay with modification of
        donuts and feedthroughs
           + will also delay review
      * FDC cosmic test stand data
+ see same effects as Lumomir with his flash, see similar
             evidence for oxygen contamination
+ moving to bottom layer, 3rd, of prototype: do a test run to
             check it out.
+ looks like wire resolution is within specs, about 200 microns
+ strip resolution getting: 600 microns, without gain
             calibration
      * discussion at pid meeting about doing walk corrections on tof with
data: started to look at this
