Elton
* magnet OSP is getting signed off, retrieved from Eugene's queue
* Patrizia Rossi, operating from long distance but she is willing to
sign
* Tim: magnet at room temperature until
1. OSP sign off
2. vacuum valve switch panel fixed
3. Creel items dealt with
4. ODH postings changed and all-staff memo sent
* Elliott: controls ready to go
* two weeks to get to nitrogen temperature according to Jonathan
Creel
* plans for January: go to 4 K, will take three or four weeks
* power-up review on Jan. 9
* Yi: PXI system is ready, communications with EPICS up
+ ran communications over weekend, ran stably
+ fast data to EPICS server worked well
+ PXI and PLC connection good
John
* FCAL frame arrived Fri. morning
+ unloaded and assembled and put on platform today
* Elton: no-cost extension to contract with IU to do design and
fabrication of dark room, finally got signed
* will bring John Frye [?] here in mid-January
+ he designed darkroom
* start stacking before end of Jan.
* Elton: hiring process
+ scientist I position advertised
+ 40 applications
+ hoping to hire two, scheduled for but not completely approved
+ will interview 6 people
+ committee met on Fri. sans Glenn
o made list of non-JLab candidates, interviews starting
middle of Jan.
o will meet at beginning of Jan. to discuss internal
candidates

* tagger magnet will be delivered in January

* last week issue with gluing tiles
+ increase temp of glue, to 40 C
+ gives strong glue joint
+ Note: material is BC-600
+ tiles are well polished
+ WLS attach from side
+ easily peeled off with old temperature
* received the fixture for gluing
* calibrated new PMTs for Franz Klein and Dan Sober, was finished

* we have base and tube from Hamamatsu for fixed array, checking rate
performance
+ already calibrated gain at different voltages
+ 1300 V normal operating voltage, see single p. e. peak
+ also tested at 900 V
+ will use Vladimir Popov's amplifier and divider
* contract with Richard: dispute resolution issue resolved
* Catholic proposal has been sent
* trigger commissioning:
+ got stuff from Vardan, can initialize boards via run control
+ will move this to read-out list
* discussed interface with database with [?]

* working on geometry for simulations
+ many changes to CDC implemented
+ BCAL with read-out box needed work
+ FDC too
* working on extension to rare eta decay proposal
+ η -> e^+e^-γ
* looking at PID with FCAL
+ identify hadronic showers using dE/dx

* PXI to EPICS work: write data to ROOT file
* helping Beni with prototype of HV GUI for CDC and FDC

* plan is to switch to CCDB in January, some work done on mirror
MySQL server
+ preparing web interface, this week new tag will be applied
* researching EVE event display
+ geometry loaded
+ playing with displaying track information

* FIU RFP issued

* question on disposition of the solenoid after testing
* question on mapping plan

* helping Carl Zorn with rad-hardness tests

* using prototype of accelerator log book for solenoid tests
* testing with infiniband in counting house: some odd things seen but
good performance, 10 Gbit seen
* in January or early spring furniture and computers will be bought
for counting house

* getting ready to stack the FCAL
Elton
* attended Panda collaboration meeting last week at GSI
* gave talk on Wed.
* p-bar beam, gas jet target
* solenoid plus dipole
* silicon around target
* forward trackers and muon chambers
* look at charm production, exotics
* funding being worked out
* trees cut down for accelerator site
* plan to start building next year, 4 year project, done by 2018,
beneficial occupancy the year before
* lots of prototyping and beam tests
* no real detectors yet
* budget not in place, must still go through CD-2-like process
* total complex: about 1 G$
* crystal calorimeter
* straw chambers
