[Halld-jlab] Crate fan RPM and reliability

Hi all,
This morning I noticed that all the crates serving the FCAL were set at
5,000 RPM; please note that all the VXS crates are to be set at 4,000
RPM and all the VME64x are to be set at 3,000 RPM or less. These
settings have been derived from tests under nominal environmental
conditions and to maintain the long term operational reliability of
these high performance fans.
The hall nominal conditions are 70 F and 50% RH but anecdotal
observations suggest that the hall HVAC system has poor regulation. If
at any time you determine that you need to increase the fan speed,
please turn off the power to the crate(s) and contact Tom Carstens so
that the HVAC system can be returned to nominal operation. Brief periods
(~ less than 30 minutes) of operation above the nominal fan speed
settings mentioned above are acceptable.
Thanks for your attention to this matter and best regards,
Fernando
