Announcements, Eugene
* JLab is a no-passing zone. Do not pass golf carts on road at the
Lab.
* Patrizia had asked for an accounting of radiologically activated
material in the Hall. They are:
1. cryo heat exchanger
2. green shielding blocks
* Project items
+ February saw a big bounce back in progress for Hall D
o CPUs came in
o many online tasks closed
+ we are at a positive cost variance but a negative schedule
variance
o spending that advances the schedule should be considered
+ "Lehman" review coming in a month
o dry runs for pre-review start this week
+ some accounts have been closed, a more detailed map of what to
charge to will be sent out
* accelerator schedule:
+ running next year will likely be 20 weeks less that we would
like
+ due to budget and work with magnet cooling systems in the
machine
* solenoid
+ there have been problems with refrigerator repair
+ a "spare" refrigerator from SLAC has been delivered
+ cost has risen in any case
* October run
+ may start as early as October 10, must end by December 15
+ we will run for three weeks, nominally
Installation, Tim
* pair spect. magnet mapping waiting for OSP
+ fiducialized
* gas system testing/troubleshooting in 1 or 2 weeks

+ Joe Beaufait point of contact
* Narisco has come back on board
* contract designer job in works to help with paperwork
* tagger vacuum window formed
+ lead found, perhaps at O-ring
* many other items, too numerous to mention at this meeting
Beni
* read 2 DCs with 50 k events
+ fixed 104 sample window
+ data makes sense
+ running larger sample now
+ Cody reprogramming all ADCs in Hall
* last week, TDC read-out was broken
+ debugged with Bryan, 3 of 4 crates now working
+ needed update to firmware on TI
+ by tonight will try to read-out FDC
* working on problem with reconstruction code
+ analyze data, number of positive and negative tracks changes
+ Simon working on same problem. See reproducibility for
REST-plugin-only running
FDC, Lubomir
* Thu. of last week, problem with FADCs, so started testing with
scope
+ can do one package per day
+ by Fri., tested two packages
o 5 bad channels found and fixed
+ package 3 has about 37 bad channels
o some of these new (strips only)
o problems related to conductive tape
o work started on fixing these, about half done
+ 4th package, 15 channels bad
+ need frame to pull cables along with chambers
* CDC testing, Beni
+ will start to get ready to move to Hall
+ new ring installed
+ also additional mounting straps for gas manifold on the ring
Calorimeters, Elton
* 2 weeks ago started turning on BCAL
+ most modules shorting, would not come up to voltage (75 V)
+ had conductive sleeve, shorting out wires
+ 1 to 1.5 days spent cutting out all sleeves, they were not
needed
+ most channels came up, signals checked on about half of ADC
cables
+ 3 modules still tripped
o 1 still had sleeve
o 1 had cable issue
o 1 had shorted cable, Chris found it after it was brought
back to F117
+ upstream modules only checked so far
+ almost ready for DAQ checking
* chiller has been operating for 10 days with no issues at 18 C
+ 3 temperature read-outs have problems (of 48)
+ humidity has been low
* FCAL read-out activity
+ using LEDs and pulser
+ 100 problem channels identified, 20 fixed so far
Trigger, Sascha
* new CODA release, 3.0.1
+ new features work
+ can set configuration files with run control
* got 2 FADC crates running
Sergey F.
* many people using the hdsys account
+ things change without attribution
+ things are sometimes in unpredictable locations
* mix of scripting/shell languages: Tcl, Expect, Python, tcsh
* templates from CODA group need update in some cases
* working on organization, setting of environment variables
+ Sascha: with control from run control, a large number of
global environment variables are no longer needed
Sascha
* config. files for BCAL need to be finalized
* global trigger crates (GTP, TS, TI) installed
* for FCAL and BCAL, 6 crates each are connected to global crates
* libraries are needed from Bryan for switching clock source
* this week: global trigger distribution
* Chris will do cable length measurements
* BCAL test scintillators are in the Hall
+ Hai has implemented cosmic trigger for BCAL using FADC
Electronics, Fernando
* F125
+ Cody found a bug where the header and trailer check would get
out of sync
+ fixed now
+ should be enough boards for FDC and CDC
+ doing full crate test in Hall
+ after that Cody will turn to working on port of F250 code
* BCAL connectors
+ sleeve an extra part
+ should not have been installed
* tagger microscope
+ PR for mini-racks submitted
+ order for supplies for power and bias
o was originally 10-12 weeks delivery
o now 15-16 weeks
* gamma (beam) profiler
+ all cables and pars are in
+ should be ready in a month
* extra procurement for F125
+ QA feedback to company made
+ everything fixed except last 9
o they cannot be fixed they will not charge us
+ will procure another 25 new from a different company
* Sascha/Glenn: CTP
+ 3 are bad
+ more have been ordered

* spare cryotarget?
+ used at LEGS
+ belongs to INFN Rome
+ will discuss use with Annalisa D'Angelo
+ there may be problems meeting modern code

plate
+ waiting for electronics box
Solenoid, Yi
