o physics analysis
* Justin Stevens will join the group starting in March. He will work on:
o physics analysis
o DIRC development
* budget: this year tight, $6M short of full funding
* running schedule
o mid-Feb. accelerator starts, 5-pass separator commissioning
o beam to tagger dump as early as Mar.
o beginning of Apr. to beginning of May: physics, about 5 weeks
o Fall run: for accelerator, no physics
o DOE briefing on Feb. 3 may give more information
* software review coming up February 11
o Mark:
+ Curtis, David L., and Mark have met.
+ Focus will be on accomplishments from commissioning run with
emphasis on software
* Elton: CW beam means beam must go to tagger hall
o Eugene: we need to be ready to take beam at beginning of March
* major goals for Spring:
o diamond radiator
o commission LH_2 target
o go to 1300 A with solenoid
Alexandre
* meeting last Thu., goals and tasks outlined for Spring run
* wiki page up for planning
* please give him feedback, identify missing items
* schedule being produced
* Eugene: we will need someone to take over Yi's work on the solenoid
o David Butler will take care of hardware, running the PXI system
o need data analysis, control software person
Sascha
* level 1 trigger meeting:
o firmware updating on many boards
o Sergey working on signal distribution boards
o playback implemented
o thresholds modified for new version
o checking needed
o new tools used for checking new firmware and for beam, can use
for timing alignment of trigger components
o level 1 monitoring tool needs to be user friendly, Sergey P.
will work on this
* working on understanding trigger performance, especially FCAL
* with Nathan will look at PS data, as well as tagger hodoscope
Sergey F.
* hardware not working so looking at data
o FCAL data: checking what we write to disk
* F125 in block mode: can we get to 20 kHz?
o in fact 40 kHz will be the goal
o problem with busy in firmware
Alexandre
* met with Chris Keith on the target, will:
o check alignment
o check that rate scales with luminosity
* also looking at data for beamline
Beni
* looking at CDC data: efficiency, rates, etc.
* taking over DIRC photon detector work from Yi
o received microchannel device
o working with Rodrigo
o have seen signals
Tim
* shielding in tagger area
* bellows on tagger hall beam pipe
* insertable profiler
* polarimeter installation prep (turbo pump)
* hydrogen target installation and testing
* total absorption counter: checkout and survey
* survey plan: finish by end of Feb.
* temporary goniometer radiator to be designed
* Feb. 18: fire safety review for Hall
* solenoid:
o getting bad signals back from refrigerator, working with cryo
group to track it down
o mass flow controllers going back: want open when off
o liquid sensors being replaced
o Danfysik coming for power supply maintenance
* chiller for FDC goes out for repair tomorrow
Simon
* working on prep for another round of simulation, put in tilt of
start counter
* revisiting timing between detector components
* calibration of CDC time offsets
* obtaining CDC alignment parameters from cosmics
Mark I.
* DC3 preparations underway
* meetings held on software review prep, David, Curtis, MMI
* new webserver being prepared by Marty Wise
* farm has been upgraded with 4000 cores
Elton
* FCAL fire safety meeting
o VESDA in darkroom
o Tom Carstens coordinating
* BCAL
o Mark D. looking at FCAL triggers and BCAL triggers
+ BCAL-FCAL factor of 5 in triggers
+ 100 k π^0 s in BCAL
+ same for FCAL
o Nick and Chris doing fixes, humidity(?) among them
o will turn things back on this afternoon
* Hot Check Out
o all items downgraded to checked
o groups responsible for moving to ready
o probably will start in a month
* will need review from management before running
* RF from ACC
o Chris S. assembling boards, FPGA programming needed
* User Board of Directors meeting this week
* Thursday: Elton on panel for Hall B commissioning review
Mark D.
* BCAL low-level calibration
o attenuation length being measured for each cell: 4.5 to 5.5 m
o reflections from light guides giving better results that for
bench tests
* with 1/3 to 1/2 of data set, have π^0 about right
o see non-linearity in photon energy response
o good mass from photons above 1 GeV
o working with Will McGinley's plug-in
Paul
* offline monitoring launched over the weekend
* TOF matching improvements implemented
* TOF hit distributions OK now
* still have mysterious double peak in energy spectrum
Lubomir
* end of last week: shut off FDC chiller
o will control power with PLC
* analyzing FDC data, drift velocity different from cosmic running,
15% faster
o would require large gas mixture error 40/60 to 45/55
o could be the alcohol
* data for alignment, no B-field, low energy tracks, 100-200 MeV pions
o efficiency could be higher than for higher momentum
Hovanes
* FCAL voltage control, problems in Fall
o bases go to max. voltage spontaneously
o read-out speed a problem
* gas system control modifications coming
o need remote flow shut-off
* magnet power supply (tagger and pair spect.) manually did not get
ramped to max. before going to set-point always, will implement
automatic procedure
