Announcements, Eugene

  * Timesheets from last October require review due to hours moved from
    ops to 12 GeV. Please respond to notifications.
  * conference travel
      o last year: invited talks only
      o if interested in giving invited or contributed, see Eugene
      o there is an accelerator conference coming up in Richmond, if
        interested let Eugene know
  * budget
      o more info at Feb. 3 DOE briefing
      o Fall run: 6 weeks with 25% uptime, a revised schedule coming soon
  * taking over Yi's former responsibilities
      o solenoid controls: Beni
      o PDL: Beni
      o PWA work with Carlos: Paul and Justin should attend meetings,
        Simon and Mark should continue to do so
      o DIRC:
          + new photo-detectors from Argonne a prospective project
          + Justin can work on Hall B solution
  * preparations for run
      o liquid hydrogen target
          + hazard analysis from Tim
          + target group will operate target
      o goniometer hazard analysis needed
          + diamond heating
          + high beam current protection
          + measures to keep frame out of the beam
      o want to increase maximum electron beam current to 1 microamp
      o want to increase solenoid current to 1300 A (to 1350 A for
        hysteresis)
      o Alexandre will start as run coordinator, David will take over,
        Mark I. will backup


Electronics, Fernando

  * HVBs for CDC all installed, finishing cabling
      o will start powering HV and LV as test
      o then connect signal cables, look at signals
      o then turn on gas system
      o run with pulser in FADC, scan all channels
  * cables for polarimeter
      o little advance notice
      o 32 + 24 coax cables needed, will exhaust spares on hand
      o ASU will bring power supply
  * master oscillator
      o tagger and hall fibers in
      o next chassis will come from Accel.
      o cables being ordered, from Accel. chassis to MO module
      o MO module working, USM design
          + Alam Toro working on firmware, can run without it if pressed
          + can step down by factor 128
          + for F1, under 5 MHz needed
  * F125s: 25 modules came in, only 5% failure rate


Run Planning, Alexandre

  * will use same structure for plan as for Fall
  * times, goals similar
  * detailed plan being put together
      o so far: target, electron beam, photon beam
      o major items:
         1. target
         2. diamond
         3. 1300 A
      o items of note:
         1. DAQ, block mode, 20 kHz
         2. RF timing
         3. TAC
         4. polarimeter
      o other items:
         1. complete detector calibration and alignment
         2. trigger optimization
         3. pair spectrometer trigger
         4. suppress FCAL noise
         5. beam stability and fast feed-back
         6. monitoring transmission through collimators


Safety, Burt

  * will to do evaluation of mandatory hearing protection zone on
    platform next Wed.
      o will break vacuum window on pair spectrometer vacuum box
      o noise level will be measured
      o request comes from engineering group


MCP DIRC Read-Out, Beni

  * Carl Zorn will take lead on project
  * Beni will supervise student and post-doc
  * Post-doc may need laser training


Science Magazine and GlueX, Fernando

  * article in Science on JLab featured picture of CDC
