  Hall D Staff Meeting, September 17, 2018

  * Announcements (Eugene)
      o the Lab will soon convert to total time accounting
      o IT is getting rid of Zimbra. Replacement unknown at present.
      o Job description components will change
      o July: CD0 for another wing of CEBAF Center approved. Wing D
      o EIC: JLab will finish pre-CDR by end of month
      o Software and Computing Review (Director's Review)
          + all Halls, Computer Center, requests for resources,
            provision of resources
          + Hall B, Super Big Bite, Moller and Solid special attention
          + Nov. 27, 28
      o Running plan proposed: keep schedule as is, move lost time to
        end of March
          + How experimental time accounting will apply not clear
          + Issues: low/high energy running periods, installation
            activities, commissioning installed detectors, low-energy
            physics,...
      o Spin conference: considerable interest in J/ψ result
          + connection between proton mass and shape of J/ψ cross
            section at threshold as a function of energy
  * Sergey took some cosmic data
      o with new CODA
      o also did test of C-based event builder using simplified EVIO format
  * Elton on detector turn-on problems
     1. tagger HV channel won't come on
     2. FDC chiller: interlock needs to be defeated before attempting
        turn on, Lubomir got it going
     3. Upstream BCAL chiller looks good now
  * Hovanes: no spare chiller
  * Eugene: PAC and lab management interested in seeing a white paper
    from Hall D
      o nuclear targets
      o polarized target
      o K_L
  * Tim on Hall preparations
      o BCAL chiller back
      o solenoid liquid level measurements: no joy
      o spare chiller would cost $13k
      o DIRC optical box in ESB
          + mirror box due Wed.
      o CompCal moving along, restack decision to come
  * Elton: quarterly DOE report on scientific output of Lab
      o for staff: put things in publication database, info can be
        pulled from there
      o gave Linda point to GlueX list of talks
