Hi Pavel,

Thanks for the clarifications.
As far as you reproduced the SLAC
results with the FLUKA it creates high
level of confidence to the FLUKA
simulations. Therefore, we have a clear reason to trust
FLUKA simulation results for KLF beam flux of 6.8 kHz.
On this note I believe we arrived to the clear
conclusion about the flux for now, unless someone
proposes another clever idea that we haven't explored yet.

Compared to 10 kHz written in the proposal we
will have about 16% higher stat error.
It is unrealistic for any proposal to claim stat error
with a better precision.

p.s. I think you should share your plots reproducing the SLAC
measurements. Probably not everyone saw them.

Best regards,
Moskov.

Hi Moskov,

Yes, with the refinement that 6 cm beam pipe inner diameter is from the end of the CuW plug until about half of the beam pipe, and 5.5 cm diameter for the downstream ~half of the pipe.

I should also note that the KL spectrum on HD target is expected to be different than the spectrum from the SLAC paper, more flat and more extended to higher energies. In that respect, the rate of 2 GeV/c KLs will probably be lower than expected and the rate of 4 GeV/c KLs will probably be higher.

Pavel,

Once more, are you saying that with
20% radiator, 6 cm diameter and 14 cm
tungsten plug your number of the flux
is 6.8 kHz?

Best regards,
Moskov.

Hi All,
I apologize for the confusion, in the last presentation all plots and values are presented for the case of 20% radiator and 14 cm CuW block, not 10% radiator. I hadn't update the title properly. The number for KL flux for 10% and 10 cm CuW was close to that 6.8 kHz also from the previous calculations (with larger stat. errors). Sorry again.
Best regards,
Pavel

Hi,

We will have a KLF beamline meeting on Thursday, December 19th , at 9am using Zoom (see information below). I posted the preliminary agenda of the meeting on the KLF wiki:

https://wiki.jlab.org/klproject/index.php/KLF_beamline_meeting_-_December_19,_2024

Please, feel free to add items to the agenda or let me know if you would like to discuss a topic.

Best,
      Hovanes.
