Hi all,
I see three ways how we can implement the
LED pulser. They are listed below based on
the complexity level. I am in favor of option b),
though a) is the simplest.
a) EPICS controlled V1495 will generate triggers.
External triggers will be sent to 2 master TIs
and the TS (very easy to implement).
b) V1495 generates triggers and sends:
2 external triggers to the master TIs (for the
stand alone data taking ) and an
external trigger to the LVDC input of one of
CTPs for the global trigger distribution.
The CTP will code the LED trigger using one bit
in the message send to the SSP. The trigger
distribution is similar to the BCAL cosmic trigger.
Based on Hai, the CTP implementation is trivial.
He is going to implement it as he is already
working on the bcal cosmic.
c) The TS will generate led triggers. V1495 will receive
an external trigger from one of TIs. The implementation
will require more efforts. Trigger for the readout cannot
be delayed (according to William) on the TI. Likely, we'll
need to send two triggers of different types from the TS:
one to fire the led and another to initiate the readout. The
master TI firmware will also require some modification.
Cheers,
Alex
