Mark and all,

To make this background dataset of maximum practical use to people studying analysis of select channels, I propose that we generate with the background from out-of-time photons eanbled in the simulation. This means including the following three extra cards in control.in (in conditions)

BEAM 12. 9.
BGRATE 1.10
BGGATE -100. 200.

The rate in BGRATE is normalized for running at 10^7 intensity in the polarized peak. I know that developers of reconstruction code may want artificially clean events, but those people are not going to be interested in looking at samples of 10^10 events. What this adds is mainly EM background tracks, but it also includes some of the dominant hadronic channels (eg. Delta production at low energy, rho photoproduction at higher energies) coming from out-of-time photons interacting in the target (and elsewhere). It would be nice for someone studying a low-rate reaction like a rare eta decay channel to be able to say that they included known backgrounds from accidental pile-up at some level.
